Inside the Author's Studio with Myra McEntire

Hooray! Inside the Author's Studio today features the incredibly cool, very adorable Myra McEntire. Remember, one lucky commenter will receive a free copy of her awesome book HOURGLASS.

1.     What is your favorite word? Serendipity.

2.     What is your least favorite word? Turgid. Don’t ask.

3.     What turns your current MC on? I plead the fifth.

4.     What turns your current MC off? Garlic breath.

5.     What sound do you love? My kids’ “evil” laughs.

6.     What sound do you hate? Crying. The soul crushing kind.

7.     What is your favorite YA quirk? (i.e. The Colonel’s desire to give everyone nicknames) My MC’s tendency to punch people. I wish I could get away with that.

8.     What profession other than yours would you like to attempt? Photography. Or some kind of visual art.

9.     What profession would you rather bathe in a vat of urine than attempting? SALES. I WILL DRINK URINE BEFORE I EVER TRY TO SELL ANOTHER THING.

10. If John Green exists and sits at your table at a SCBWI conference, what would you like him to say to you? Oh, no, your awkwardness doesn’t bother me at all. In fact, I LIKE IT.

Yes, Myra is as AWESOME as I suspected. Thank you for joining us today! Don't forget to comment in order to win HOURGLASS.

Fantastic! Thanks, Myra and Christa. And big UGH on the word 'turgid'. It's horrible.

Ok- great little snippet and I am dying to read this. what a gorgeous cover. I kind of love turgid and it's antonym flaccid. They're not pretty words, and I have few reasons to use them in real life, but they're such great onomatopoeia. I just see them when I hear them (which maybe isn't a good thing?) I'll stop now.

forgive my spelling and punctuation errors above! I've had coffee. I can only blame myself. :0)

What a fun interview! I also hate the word turgid. It's wrong on so many levels.

This book is going in my TBR pile. :)

Such a cool interview! And I agree with her--I would NEVER want to sell anything ever again. :)

I'll throw in a signed poster for the winner, and a bookplate if I can manage to get them ordered.

And I'm SO relieved that y'all feel the same way about turgid-ness.

Ewww.

LOL! Great interview, Myra and Christa. I agree about not wanting to be a salesman. I have a soul, therefore I cannot sell. : )

Oh my gosh, I think Myra and I have a lot in common. I can relate to every single one of her answers, I think. In fact, it's almost creepy-strange.

Wow, I would love to win this book. But I guess if I don't win it, I'll still have to find a way to read it. Thanks for the great interview, Christa!

Ooooh what a great interview series - and I'm dying to read Hourglass!

Thanks for your comment on my guest post at the dojo. Have faith! In the silence you'll discover that you're stronger than those insecurity voices. Once you see how much bigger you are than them, they'll extinguish FAST. I swear to you. :)

And just think - I'm so envious you're already agented, you MUST be awesome! :) If I had an agent I'd be dancing around my house eating chocolate all day going, "I am the s%*#!!!!!"

Very cute, Myra and Christa! And I'm currently reading a novel that uses the word "turgid" at least once every-other page. Yeah, don't ask. ;)
