Playlist for TRAINWRECK

So I'm not sure if you all know, but I sort of know nothing about music. I think that maybe the last album I bought was Garbage. And yeah, I just said album. Also, I don't listen to music when I write or edit because I find it very distracting.

It's embarrassing really how little I know about any current music. But we can't be ALL the things. So I have employed the mad musical skills of Mandie Baxter (love her!!!) to come up with a playlist for TRAINWRECK. And she did and it's AWESOME. So even though I may not be all the things, at least I know some good people:)

I'm gonna roll out this playlist a little at a time over the next few weeks. This week features music from before the broken part of the story. I hope you all love both these songs as much as I do.

You sound just like me! Writing with music is distracting and it isn't that I don't love music, but I am just horrible at deciding what to spend my money on so I just don't. But hey, when you have a totally cool friend to help pick some jams out it's a win win.
Great songs!

I remember one day, back when I was teaching, I couldn't stop calling albums "records". It delighted my students because it provided them with a perfect reason to make fun of me.

Occasionally a friend of mine will say "Hey, I heard this song and it made me think of your book!" And I love it when that happens.

I have playlists for about half my books.
I use them when I'm editing, or when I'm running and am thinking through plot while I go.

What's cool is that a song I haven't heard in a while came up last night on the iPod while Mike and I were out driving and it took me RIGHT back to that project.
It's really nice when I'm working on more than one thing at a time because it helps get me in the "mood" :-D

I can't understand a character unless I know what music they listen to. But I'm married to a musician. And when I listen to the radio I categorize the songs by what character would like them. During the first video I kinda couldn't take my eyes off the girl.

Ahh I sort of love you for having Bowling for Soup as one of your playlist songs for Trainwreck! Speaking of which, congrats on your debut novel - I bet you're excited for next year. :) I found you at Elana Johnson's blog. She is awesome. And you have awesome taste in music, I have to say.

By the way, I'm hosting an awesome blogfest and critique giveaway at my blog from June 22-24 that you should totally come participate in if you're interested! :) Hope you have a great day.

I know these songs!

I listen to music when I write. Puts me in the right mood since I pick the songs for the feel in the scenes I'm going for.

Aw! <3 Love ya back! It was my pleasure to come up with these songs. I hope everyone else likes them, too! :D

As far as writing, I can't stand quiet. Music helps me think. Also...I need music to live! (former band geek here)
